“Amapola”, 30×22, watercolor

The “Amapola”, or tropical hibiscus is a very popular flower in Puerto Rico. You can find it around the island in many colors and varieties. It’s very special to me, as it’s my mothers favorite flower. I created this painting as a commerative award for the “Latinas Unidas” 15th year anniversary, where the top 15 sponsors received a plaque with the print on the left side. Among the sponsors that received this special gift were Kodak, University of Rochester, Time Warner, City of Rochester and many others. I attended a networking event at Time Warner and as I was walking out I saw the plaque proudly displayed, it warmed my heart in a way I couldn’t explain.
