I find my source of inspiration from nature’s gardens. The beauty, grace and natural palette in flowers offer me a never-ending source of motivation to paint.
In my paintings I seek to render my visions of color, texture, line, light and color intensity to the viewer. My greatest fascination then comes from the viewers response to my interpretation. That feedback sustains my creativity and passion to feedforward my growth as an artist.
Peggy Martinez, originally from Rochester, NY, has lived in Rochester and Salinas, Puerto Rico. For 18 months she attended college in Kutztown State College, in Kutztown, Pa. where she studied General Art. Peggy worked in banking for 29 years, mostly in Management and Corporate Sales. During the summer of 2010, the artist decided to leave the corporate world to pursue her passion for painting on a full-time basis. The artist lives in Chili, NY, a suburb of Rochester, NY with her husband and daughter.
Peggy is a self-taught artist and has attended many workshops with local and nationally known artists. The artist has actively been conducting lectures, demonstrations and will be judging her first art show. She has been exhibiting and participating at Art Fairs. The artist is affiliated with the Webster Art Club, Rochester Art Club, Niagara Frontier Watercolor Society and the Yates County Art Center.
Her painting, business, management and marketing experience has led her to teach watercolor classes for all levels, independent workshops and demonstrations for various Art Clubs and Guilds. Her goal is to expand her workshops on a national level, build a solid collection of artwork and ultimately establish and be represented by an Art Gallery.
In June, 2011, Peggy’s artwork was chosen for the online exhibition “We can never have enough of Nature”, at the Still Point Art Gallery. In addition, she received the honor of “Artist of Distinction”, an honor given to a few artist for demonstrating high skill levels within the medium.
In October, 2011, the artist created a painting for the Ibero-American Action League, a non-profit organization with 22 locations and 300 employees. The painting which was inspired by the Puerto Rican dance and culture influence, was trasnformed into a poster to raise funds for latino seniors and childrens programs that have suffered by state funding cuts.
Another recent accomplishment, the artist won 1st place at the Letchworth Arts & Craft Show in the category of Drawing, Painting and Graphics.
